If you're looking to add a Bluetooth tracker to your insulin pen, compatibility is the first thing to check. The PenGuard NovoStar adapter is designed to fit two specific pen families — and it's worth knowing exactly which devices are supported before you order.
What Does "NovoStar" Mean?
NovoStar is the name of our adapter — not a pen brand. It's designed to fit a specific group of pens from two different manufacturers. The name reflects the combination of pen types it supports.
Compatible Pens
The PenGuard NovoStar adapter is compatible with the following insulin pens:
- NovoPen Echo
- NovoPen Echo Plus
- NovoPen 5
- NovoPen 6
- Sanofi SoloStar pens (including Lantus SoloStar, Toujeo SoloStar, and Apidra SoloStar)
These pens share a compatible body profile that allows the adapter to fit securely and stay in place during daily use.
What's Not Compatible
The NovoPen FlexPen is not compatible with the PenGuard NovoStar adapter. The FlexPen has a different body shape and dimensions that require a separate design. If you use a FlexPen, please get in touch — it's on our radar.
Which PenGuard Should You Order?
Once you've confirmed your pen is compatible, choose the version that matches your phone:
- PenGuard NovoStar Air — for Apple AirTag. Works with iPhone and the Find My app.
- PenGuard NovoStar Chip — for Chipolo trackers. Works with Android and Samsung via the Chipolo and SmartThings apps.

PenGuard adapters are not 3D printed. They're manufactured using injection-moulded ABS plastic — the same process used to produce durable consumer and medical-grade accessories. ABS is known for its toughness, impact resistance, and ability to hold tight tolerances, which means the adapter keeps its shape and grip over time, even with daily handling.
This matters for a device you'll be attaching and detaching regularly, carrying in a bag, and relying on to hold a tracker securely against your pen.
